Procedure
1.Introduction
Good afternoon my dear children and our guests. I am glad to see you.
We live a magic world. The world is full of wonderful things. It`s our nature. Nature gives us life. Nature teaches us to be kind and clever, attentive and it teaches us to understand the world around us. We are the happiest people because we can walk along seaside or listen to songs of the forest or of the wind, or of the birds…
Y. Gagarin said : ‘’How beautiful our blue planet is! How small is! People of the world, take care of it protect it. »
So , I want these care words to be the epigraph of our lesson.
2. Aim
During this lesson we’ll find information about our environment and decide what we must, can at should do to save our Planet. And at the end of the lesson we’ll sing a song.
Main Part
Let’s start our work with a new lexic. Please, look at the blackboard. There are new words for you .You read and repeat after me. Then you have to write them into your vocabularies.

- Hi Vlad. It’s me Iryna. Tanya has an idea to start our own “Clean up the Countryside” club. The grove is in a terrible mess. And we are going to clear away all the rubbish that has been left by rubbish dumpers. Will you join us?
- Sure. That’s a great idea. I agree we have to clear away the mess. When and where shall we meet?
- After classes. At the grove. Don’t forget to bring plastic bags for the rubbish.
- All right. I’ll be at the grove after classes.
- Excuse me. What are you going to do with all this litter? Are you going to leave it here?
- What do you mean, young lady?
- I mean that you should put all your rubbish into a plastic bag and take it away. You just can’t leave this rubbish here. You turn this beautiful place into a rubbish pile.
- Why do you think so? I’m not going to leave these empty bottles and cans here. I enjoy spending time here and I’ll never spoil this lovely place.
And now listen to the additional information of 2 pupils about the pollution of our nature.
Pupil1
My report is about air pollution. You certainly know that the most of the pollution in big cities comes from cars and buses. Air pollution causes a lot of ecological problems, greenhouse effect, holes in the ozone layer. Ozone layer protect us from ultraviolet radiation, but if there are holes in the ozone layer this radiation can get to the Earth. Such radiation can cause skin cancer. Other problem it’s plants and factories that pollute the atmosphere, because they don’t have good filters. Also nuclear power stations are rather dangerous, if they go wrong they can cause nuclear pollution. To make air clean we need good filters at nuclear power stations, at factories and plants, and public transport.
Pupil2
My report is about greenhouse effect. Recently the climate has changed a lot in the world. Many people say that it is because of the greenhouse effect. During the last 100 hundred years people have produced a lot of carbon dioxide. This gas lets heat get in, but it doesn’t let much heat get out. So the atmosphere becomes warmer. We produce carbon dioxide when we breathe, burn the thing. Trees take this gas from the air and produce oxygen. But in last few years people have cut down big areas of forests, this means that there becomes more carbon dioxide. So, such changes in nature influence disastrous on the climate. We should join our efforts to protect our fragile planet.
Thank you for your answers. Without a doubt these are global problems. And what about the rubbish, we can find it everywhere. Please act out the dialogues (pupils prepare the dialogues at home) concerning this issue.
- Is that you , Pavlo? It’s me, Tanya. Our grove looks terrible. It’s piled with rubbish. I was shocked to see that.
- Calm down! Have you got any ideas?
- Yes. I have an idea. We have to do something about this mess. Let’s start our “Clean up Countryside” club.
- Oh, it’s great. Meet me tomorrow and discuss it.
- OK. I’ll give a call to Stas and Oksana.
Warm – up A Game
Pupils are divided into two groups.
Look trough all the words we’ve used, close your books. Each group tries to remember as many words as possible.
Work in pairs
Let’s make up rules about using natural resources. Each group fills the gaps and explains what we must or mustn’t do with our nature.
must mustn’t
- We… pollute rivers.
- We… recycle paper.
- We… protect wildlife.
- We… drop rubbish on beaches.
- We… let factories pollute air.
- We… cut down trees.
- We… hurt the environment.
- We… destroy forests.
- We… reduce air pollution.

This picture shows the pollution of water and air.
This picture shows the problem of cutting trees.
A Song John Lennon ’’Imagine’’.
And how as I’ve promised at the beginning of our lesson we’ll sing. Listen to the song by John Lennon and fill in the gaps, than we’ll sing it together.
Summing up
I hope you’ll find the way to help nature. Oscar Wild said:” Who are you to bring the pain into God’s world ? Let’s bring happiness and peace. Your marks are…. Good luck to you. Your homework is to learn new words and make up sentences. I am looking forward to our next meeting.
